Preserving the Past - Building for the Future

Northern Virginia 4-H Center has the great honor and responsibility of being the home of the Front Royal Remount Depot. This Army facility was the home of over 15,000 soldiers that served during the first and second World Wars. These veterans carried Cavalry Soldiers into battle and were honored to serve General Pershing. Two of his horses are buried on the Remount Depot property.

The Northern Virginia 4-H Center has the opportunity to share this proud heritage with the world by restoring the Front Royal Remount Depot. The restoration will provide state of the art facilities for equestrians to learn and teach the public and youth about our shared proud heritage of service. It will provide a museum in the restored Quartermaster’s Building. The multi-purpose Covered Activities Building will provide a year round education and public activities equestrian education center.

This capital campaign for $5,000,000 is looking for a major gift to launch this final stage of the campaign. In the first phases of the campaign over $500,000 to help stabilize the buildings, develop an engineering and architectural plan for this second phase was completed. To successfully launch the next phase, we need a leadership gift of $1,000,000. This will provide the funds needed to restore the existing buildings and to open the museum. The additional $4,000,000 that this gift will leverage will enable the building of a state of the art equestrian facility.
